These are engineering aids, not engineering advice
Everything published on this site (the calculators, the guides, the hub pages and the glossary) is background material. None of it is engineering advice, and none of it creates a professional relationship between you and FireStrategy.ai.
A fire strategy for a real building requires a competent person to consider that building, its occupants, its use, its construction and its management, and to exercise judgement. No calculator does that, and nothing here should be presented to a building control body, a regulator or a client as if it had.
What the calculators do and do not do
- They implement a published method, and they show the working so you can check it.
- They apply that method to the inputs you give, and to nothing else. They do not know anything about your building that you have not typed in.
- They do not check that the method is appropriate for your building. Choosing the method is the engineering.
- They do not consider interactions with other systems, management arrangements, phasing, or anything else a strategy has to reconcile.
- They are not a substitute for reading the current published standard.
Editions and currency
Standards and legislation change. Every page states the documents it relies on and the date it was last reviewed. A page can be accurate on its review date and wrong afterwards, and it is your responsibility to check the current published edition before relying on anything here in a design.
Figures relating to the Building Safety Regulator are taken from published application data, currently to 28 June 2026. They are dated wherever they appear and will be superseded.
Jurisdiction
This material is written for the United Kingdom, and predominantly for England. Scotland uses the Building Standards system and its own Technical Handbooks; Wales has diverged from Approved Document B in several respects; Northern Ireland uses its own Technical Booklets. The Building Safety Act Gateway regime applies in England only. Do not transpose any of it to another jurisdiction.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
